The Process
Schematic Design
We start by listening to your desires: what do you love in a house? What do you adore? Are you fond of any particular floor plan? Is a dog wash station for Fido imperative? These choices are for you to decide by filling out a Client Wish List that we will provide to you. We also look at any
inspiration photos that you have saved.
After getting an idea of what you want in a house, we sketch a first floor plan or bubble diagram, and if applicable, rough a front elevation sketch.
Next, we review the sketches together with you, whether in person, over the phone, or via Zoom video call. You can call out items that you love as well as any not-so-loved portions of the design. Changes are then implemented into the next iteration of the drawings. Once we receive your approval for a finalized Schematic Design, we proceed into the Design Development phase.
Design Development
We take the approved schematic concept and develop it more fully. Plans are fleshed out, and a front elevation rendering is sent. Once you're happy with the design, we proceed with drafting all floor plans digitally, and most elevations, if not all, are drawn.
After further meetings and finalizing a design you love, we move to creating a Pricing Set.
Pricing Set
The design is fully digitized and drawn to include notes, window sizes, door sizes, dimensions, details, a roof plan and a foundation plan.
The drawings are sent for pricing.
Construction
Documents
Once a cost estimate has been received from the builder(s), and you are content with the numbers, we will develop the Pricing Set into Construction Documents — these include construction details, wall
sections, building sections as needed, and electrical plans.
Once completed, we hand off the drawings to the builder for permitting and construction of the design.
